  Protection of frequency controlled motors and their power transformers.SPAD346C3 can only be used for the protection of power transformers that supply power to frequency converters.In the SPAD346C3 differential protection relay,the fundamental frequency component is digitally filtered using a Fourier filter.This filter will suppress frequencies other than the set fundamental frequency,so relays are not suitable for measuring the output of frequency converters,i.e.relays are not suitable for protecting power transformers or motors powered by frequency converters.

  The protection SPAD346C3 for short overhead lines or cable lines can be used for differential protection of overhead lines or cable lines.If the distance between measurement points is relatively long,it may be necessary to insert a CT to reduce the burden on the CT.The longer the distance between the CT and the protective relay,the higher the burden on the CT(due to the resistance of the connecting wire).In addition,the actual accuracy limiting factor of CT may be too low to meet the requirements of differential protection.Usually,using a secondary current of 1A instead of 5A is sufficient.For example,if the total resistance of the secondary wire is 1.0 ohms and a rated secondary current of 5A is used,the CT load will be(5A)2×1.0?=25 VA.Instead of excessively adjusting the CTVA rating to compensate for the increased burden,it is better to increase the CT ratio.If 1A rated secondary current is used,the load is only(1A)2×1.0?=1 VA.3.6.1.
