The pulse input slave module(imdsm04)is an interface used to introduce eight separate process field signals into the infi 90 process management system.These pulses are input by the main module used to monitor and control the process.
The steps that must be followed to set up and install the imdsm04 module and describe the status indicators that are helpful for system testing and diagnostics.System engineers or technicians using imdsm04 should read and understand this instruction before installing and operating the slave module.In addition,a comprehensive understanding of the infi 90 system is also useful.
The pulse input brings eight independent pulse signals from the module(imdsm04)into the infi 90 system for processing and monitoring.It interfaces the process field input with the infi 90 process management system.The main module provides control functions;The slave module provides input/output to the master module.

The DSM is an active interface device that interfaces with the infi 90 multifunction processor(MFP).DSM condition,convert and process pulse input,such as low-level amplitude pulse,sine wave,logic level pulse or contact closure to digital signal.DSM applications include:turbine flowmeter,tachometer,wattmeter,proximity sensor and counter.A slave provides eight independent pulse or frequency inputs to the master module.The input signal is optically isolated.DSM also works with the existing network 90 multifunction controller(MFC).
The modular design of DSM,like all infi 90 modules,allows flexibility in creating process management system policies.It can generate eight independent pulse signals in three voltage ranges.The two ranges are 4 to 6 VDC and 21.6 to 27 VDC(the 21.6 to 27 VDC range allows connection of dry contact inputs).The third range is input to the preamplifier on channels 1 and 2(for 50 MV and 10 V peak to peak low-level pulse input).The DSM connects the input to the infi 90 system without a separate converter.
You can configure each input by selecting a single voltage and response time via jumpers on the module.The optional response time(fast or slow)allows the infi 90 system to compensate for the deoxidization time of process field equipment.
The slave device provides 16 bit resolution in the input channel for frequencies up to 50 kHz.It performs periodic high-resolution measurements of low-frequency signals at a selected rate between 20 microseconds and 655 x 103 seconds.The slave can calculate the number of rising or falling edges of the input signal and measure the time between pulse edges.
Imdsm04 is terminated with ntdi01.The dips shunt on terminal unit(ntdi01)is configured with digital inputs.This pulse input receives 4 to 6 VDC input from the module(DSM),21.6 to 27 VDC and 50 MV to 10 V peak to peak voltage.
Imdsm04 is terminated with nidi01.The jumper connection terminal module(nidi01)configures the digital input as DSM.The pulse input accepts inputs from the module(DSM)4 to 6 VDC,21.6 to 27 VDC,and 50 MV to 10 V peak to peak.
