Product Description
The FBM205, 0 to 20 mA I/O interface (redundant) includes four redundant 0 to 20mA DC analog input channels and four redundant 0 to 20 mA DC analog output channels. The input/output is combined with a pair of redundant modules isolated from other channel currents to provide a redundant module (FBM) level for the field bus, and the field I/O is wired to a universal terminal assembly. Each module independently attempts to maintain the output at its specified position, and each independently reports its observed input value.
The redundant analog inputs and outputs in the control software are combined with information from/to modules to verify each input and output.
FBM205 is electrically compatible with standard HARTSignals

Redundant analog input/output
The redundant analog output function block AOUTR is used for output. AOUTR block handles output writing and initializing logical redundant channels. At each execution cycle of the AOUTR block, the same output writes are sent to two modules, fully utilizing the fieldbus and each module. When a fault is detected in one of the modules, its output is driven to 0mA and the corresponding channel in the good module automatically continues to provide appropriate current to the output current circuit.
The redundant analog input function block AINR is used for input. The AINR block handles redundant input reads and initializes logical channels. In each execution cycle of the AINR block, the same read module is sent to both, fully utilizing the fieldbus and the logic circuits of each module.
Each input channel accepts analog sensor inputs, such as a 4 to 20 mA transmitter or a self powered 4 to 20mA power supply. Each output channel drives an external load to generate an output of 0 to 20mA. The transmitter power supply for each module is diode OR'd and placed together in a redundant adapter to help ensure redundant power supply. The microprocessor of each module executes simulated I/O applications and security routines to verify the operation of FBM.
The input channel options include a configurable integration time selection module foundation. By providing redundant power supply to the input, the safety of the input channel is enhanced, which comes from the current circuit of each channel power supply in each module of the pair.
The configurable options for output safety in the module include fail safe operation (hold/fall back), analog output fail safe fall back data (based on each channel), fieldbus fail safe enable, and fieldbus fail safe delay time. Analog output fault protection must have a fallback data option set for the 0 mA output. This will remove a pair of service redundant output channels that can detect issues, such as the module not receiving output writes correctly or failing to pass the security test on the FBM microprocessor to write output registers. The setting of the backup data option for analog output fault protection also minimizes the possibility of a "high fault" result for 0 mA output.
High precision
For high precision, this module combines a Sigma Delta converter for each channel, which provides a new analog input reading every 25 milliseconds, as well as configurable integration to remove any process noise and power line frequency cycles. Each time period FBM converts each analog input into digital values and provides the average value to the controller.
high reliability
The redundancy of module pairs, coupled with high fault coverage, provides very high subsystem availability time.
Redundant adapters provide test points that can be used for regular testing
Measure the output voltage of each transmitter power supply. This periodic testing can improve the statistical availability of the module.
Standard design
The FBM205 has a sturdy extruded aluminum casing that can be applied to circuits. The enclosure designed specifically for installing FBM provides various levels of environmental protection standards that comply with ISA standard S71.04.
Visual indicator
The light emitting diodes (LEDs) at the front of the module provide visual indication of the status of the FBM function.
Easy to disassemble/replace
Any module can be replaced with a good one without interfering with on-site input or output signals. Module terminal wiring, power supply, or communication wiring can be removed/replaced without the need to remove on-site equipment.
Fieldbus communication
The redundant 2Mbps module fieldbus used by the fieldbus communication module or control processor and FBM. FBM205 accepts communication from any path (A or B) of the 2Mbps fieldbus. If a path is unsuccessful or switches at the system level, the module continues to communicate through the active path.
Modular substrate installation
The module is installed on a modular substrate mounted on a DIN rail, which can accommodate up to four or eight FBMs. The modular base plate is DIN rail mounted or rack mounted, including independent DC power supply and termination cables for redundant fieldbus signal connectors.
Redundant modules must be located in adjacent positions on the substrate (positions 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, or 7 and 8). To achieve redundant adapter modules, they are placed on two adjacent backplane terminated cable connectors to provide single terminated cable connections. Cable connections (TA) from redundant adapters to related terminal components for a single terminal.
Implement system configuration program applications and monitoring through SMON and Foxboro ? The DCSSystem Manager and SMDH redundant modules seem to be separate and non redundant. The functional redundancy of these modules is determined by their related control blocks.
application area
FBM205 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including manufacturing, process control, and automation systems.
