A pair of FBM231 modules are combined to provide
Redundancy at the Field Bus Module(FBM)level to the field wiring of two terminal components.In this configuration,one FBM231 is the Master and the other is the Tracker module.The point on the input control station inputs the master from the device received on the connected network.The device output point depends on the I/O driver,and the role switching of the unit written by the Master and Tracker is automatic(if actual)by detecting problems(such as heartbeat)in the I/O driver,or the user can switch roles at any position for a time through SMDH.
FBM231 has four ports,each of which can be configured separately in software for RS-232,RS-422 or RS-485.This allows a single FBM231 to connect to multiple similar but not identical devices.Ports 1,2,3,and/or 4 can be cable devices configured with redundant single logical ports that allow you to interface with dual port I/O.
FBM231 and its related terminal components(TA)can accommodate various types of connections to dual port devices;Direct connection to the device;Used in conjunction with RS-232 communication interface when connecting to a modem,as well as multi-point connection of RS-485 devices.Inherent
Safety devices and on-site equipment can be connected between TAs.For single port devices,FBM230 should be used.

The serial link sets up data communication between two FBM231 modules and dual port field devices through two 4-port terminal components(TAs)connected to each redundant FBM231.For each port of RS-422 and RS-485 wiring,each TA has compression screws or ring lug terminals,and each port has a DIP switch selectable bus termination resistor.For RS232 wiring,TA has four standard DB-25 male connectors,each port with a branch group consisting of 24 DIP switches,which can be used in any RS-232 wiring configuration(such as connecting Clear to Sendto Request to Send).The physical wiring complies with the Electronics Industry Association(EIA)standards RS-232,RS-422,or RS-485.
I/O driver
The FBM is a universal hardware module that can load different software drivers.These drivers configure FBM to identify the protocols used by specific on-site devices.Software drivers are standard products.Other custom drivers can be developed to meet specific needs.These drivers are dynamically downloaded to a pair of FBM231,with specialized software code designed for protocol configuration with third-party devices and software requirements for each driver to be integrated into the system.
Configuration program
The FDSI configuration program uses an XML based device configuration file.The port configuration program allows for easy setting of communication parameters for each port(such as communication interface standards,baud rate,parity).Not all devices require a device configurator,but when needed,it configures device specific point specific considerations(such as the address and amount of data to be transmitted in a transaction).
operation
Each FBM231 can access up to 64 devices in RS-485 mode to read or write data.
The Foxboro control station FBM231 is connected,and up to 2000 Distributed Control Interface(DCI)data connections can enable it to read or write data.The supported data types are determined by the specific driver loaded on FBM231,which converts the data to the data types listed below in DCI:
Analog input or output values(integer or IEEE single precision floating-point)
?Single digital input or output value
Multiple(packaged)digital input or output values(with a maximum of 32 digital point connections per group).
Therefore,the Foxboro control station can access 2000 analog I/O values,or up to 64000 digital I/O values,or a combination of digital and analog values distributed across the four ports of FBM231.This control can access FBM231 data at a frequency workstation speed of up to 500 milliseconds.The performance depends on each device type and the data in the device.
FBM231 performs necessary conversions from the device,and then stores the converted data in its database to incorporate Foxboro factory management functions and operator displays.The data may also be written from Foxboro to various device Evo systems.

The redundancy of module pairs and high fault coverage provide very high subsystem availability time.Any module can replace the field input or output signal to another module without upsetting.A.There is no need to remove on-site equipment termination cables,power supplies,or communication wiring.
Modular base plate installation
The FBM231 module is installed on the module substrate and can accommodate up to four or eight FBMs.The modular substrate is installed on DIN rails or racks.The modular substrate includes FBM signal connectors,redundant independent DC power connections,I/O cable connections,and 2 Mbps module fieldbus connections.
The redundant FBM231 module must be located in adjacent odd and even positions(positions 1 and 2,3 and 4,5 and 6,or 7 and 8)on the substrate.Two TA cables are connected from the backplane to the associated TA.Each port of a dual port device is connected to one of the two TAs.
Fieldbus communication
The fieldbus communication module(FCM100Et or FCM100E)or field control processor(FCP280 or FCP270)interfaces with the redundant 2Mbps module FBM using the fieldbus.FBM231 accepts communication Mbps module fieldbus from any path of redundancy 2-if a path fails or switches at the system level,the module continues to communicate through the active path.The visual indicator is integrated into the front of the module to provide the operational status of the module,as well as the active(send and receive)communication ports of each of the four communication nodes.The other two LEDs indicate the main or tracker status of the module.

The FBM231 terminal assembly(TA)is a Foxboro Evo system standard 200 series subsystem field wiring terminal series.

Interface standards(RS-232,RS-422,or RS-485)
Between the on-site equipment and FBM231.A pair of FBM231 uses two TAs.Each TA is connected to a dual port device.
Each TA has four DB-25 cable connectors,which are used for RS-232 communication interfaces and switches to match the RS-232 signal pins of DB-25 for various field devices.
TA has a three-layer compression screw or ring RS-422 and RS-485 lug to connect the communication interface.The optional terminal resistor of the switch is built into the TA and is used as the terminal communication interface for active use with RS-422 and RS-485.
