  DCAS-32160 is a hard drive produced by IBM.It is part of the DCAS series of hard drives designed for enterprise level systems.

  The electronic control driver is electronically controlled by a microprocessor,several logic modules,digital/analog modules,as well as various drivers and receivers.Control electronic devices to perform the following main functions:perform power on sequence and calibrate servo.Monitor various timers for magnetic head settling,servo faults,etc.Analyze servo signals to provide closed-loop control.These include position error signals and estimated speed.Control the voice coil motor driver to align the actuator to the desired position.Monitor the position of the actuator and determine the target trajectory for the seek operation.Continuously monitor the error conditions of the servo and take corresponding actions when errors occur.Control start,stop,and spindle speed.Control and interpret all interface signals between the host controller and the driver.Control read and write access to disk media,including defect management and error recovery.Perform self check(diagnosis).

  The magnetic head disk assembly(HDA)is assembled in a clean room environment,including the disk and actuator components.When the drive is running,the air continuously circulates and filters.The exhaust of HDA is achieved through a ventilation filter.The spindle is directly driven by a brushless,sensorless DC drive motor.Dynamic braking is used to quickly stop the actuator.

  The actuator read/write head is installed in the actuator.The actuator is a rocker arm component driven by a voice coil motor.The closed-loop positioning servo controls the motion of the actuator.The embedded servo mode provides feedback to the positioning servo to keep the read/write head at the center of the desired track.The actuator components are balanced and allow for vertical or horizontal installation without adjustment.When the driver loses power,the actuator will automatically move the magnetic head to a dedicated landing area outside the data area,where the actuator is locked.
