  The VX4240 waveform digitizer/analyzer module is a printed circuit board component suitable for C or D size hosts that comply with VXIbus specifications.It combines a 12 bit,10 MHz A/D converter with RISC processors to provide complex measurement and analysis tools.The VX4240 can capture waveforms in the frequency range of DC to 5 MHz,and has a wide range of on card signal analysis and adjustment routines.All key parameters are programmable and calibration is greatly simplified through semi-automatic calibration and alignment routines.

  In addition to collecting and transmitting waveforms,the VX4240 can also analyze and/or preprocess sample data before returning it to the system controller.More than 40 available signal analysis routines include functions such as Fast Fourier Transform(FFT)using any one of three different windows;Signal to noise ratio;Total harmonic distortion;Maximum,minimum,average,and RMS values;Rise and fall time;Pulse width;Peak to peak voltage;Overshoot and undershoot;Mean and standard deviation;And the cycle,frequency,and duty cycle.

  Another unique feature of the VX4240 is the ability to directly set the required input range.Eight ranges(0.5,1,2,5,10,20,50,and 100 volts)have been calibrated,but any range less than 100 volts can be set.If a range outside the calibration range is selected,the VX4240 will use a virtual ranging circuit developed by Tek to pre scale the signal.In fact,this circuit adjusts the input signal to provide 12 bit weighting at any voltage within the VX4240 range,resulting in better performance than many 14 bit digitizers.The input can be programmed as AC or DC coupled,single ended or differential,with an input impedance of 50 ohms or 1 MOhm.
