  The GE integrated circuit chip PROM group has two PROM modules that are compatible with various GE Mark V boards.The EPROM module stores configuration files for drives or other devices.The configuration file at the factory is the default configuration.However,editing tools can be used to edit the configuration of the site.The configuration file can be downloaded to a laptop or other device for editing through a serial cable connected to the drive and serial port on the laptop or other device.After completing the editing,you can upload it to the drive stored on the PROM module.

  Since PROM modules can be damaged by static electricity,you must consider guidelines for handling static sensitive equipment.The PROM module is packaged and sealed in an electrostatic protective bag.It is important to keep the PROM module in the bag and away from others,as others may accidentally damage the PROM module by handling it and exposing it to static electricity.

  When you are ready to install the module,please wear a wrist strap.By connecting the other end of the wristband to a grounded surface(such as a metal bracket on a workbench),the wristband can discharge static electricity from the body and board.Some wristbands have a plug that you can insert into the matching connector on the workbench.

  Before installing the replacement PROM,please download the configuration from it to your laptop.Then,install the replacement PROM and upload the same configuration file to the replacement PROM module.
