  REG216 ABB Digital Generator Protection is an advanced device that provides comprehensive protection for generators in power generation applications.It combines advanced digital technology,extensive protection functions,and user-friendly features to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the generator.

  REG216 is used to protect generators and block transformers.Modular hardware and software design allows for extremely flexible installation.By combining software libraries and hardware modules,it is easy to adapt to the size of the main system and the required protection scheme.Therefore,economic solutions can play a role in all their expected applications.The REG216 software system provides a protection function library.The following table lists the functions applicable to generator and transformer protection.Different degrees of redundancy can be selected.The availability and reliability of protection can be selected to adapt to the application by replicating,for example,the auxiliary power supply unit of the entire system.The standard interface makes REG216 compatible with different process control systems.It can exchange data with higher process controllers,such as one-way reporting of digital status and events,measured values,and protection parameters.REG216 and REG216 Classic differ in binary process connectivity:-REG216 uses the E/A module 216GD61a-REG216 Classic uses modules 216GE61/216GA61 and 216GA62.

  The REG216 device consists of two main components that are physically separated from each other and connected through standard prefabricated shielded cables:

  ?Interface with the main system(CT,PT,and auxiliary relays)to provide DC isolation and barrier for electromagnetic interference

  Parallel bus and related electronic units(such as analog inputs and data processors/for signal conditioning and processing).The complete protection scheme includes relatively few hardware modules,allowing for subsequent expansion of electronic units and interfaces.Each device frame has 21 rack spaces.
