K / J type Thermocouple Wire With Connector Description :A thermocouple is a temperature measuring device consisting of two conductors of dissimilar metals or alloys that are connected only at the ends. When the ends are at different temperatures a small voltage is produced in the wire that can be related directly to the temperature difference between the ends. If the temperature at one end is known, the temperature at the other end can be determined.
K Type Thermocouple Wire is the most common type of thermocouple. It"s inexpensive, accurate, reliable, and has a wide temperature range.
The type K is commonly found in nuclear applications because of its relative radiation hardness. Maximum continuous temperature is around 1,100C.
Type K Temperature Range:Thermocouple grade wire | -454 to 2,300F (-270 to 1260ºC) |
Extension wire | 32 to 392F (0 to 200ºC) |
Type K Accuracy (whichever is greater):--Standard: +/- 2.2C or +/- .75%
--Special Limits of Error: +/- 1.1C or 0.4%
Consideration for bare wire type K thermocouple applications:--The Type K is made with two alloys of high nickel content which allows their use in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres
--It is necessary to take the precautions when reducing atmospheres.
