  The REM 545 machine terminal is used as the main protection system for generators and generator transformer sets in small and medium-sized diesel power plants,hydroelectric power plants,and steam power plants.During start-up and normal operation,the protection of large and/or important medium voltage synchronous and asynchronous motors for pumps,mills,and crushers has formed another application area.

  The protection function of REM 545 is designed for selective short circuit and ground fault protection of rotating machinery.Unlike most other power system components,rotating machines also require protection against abnormal operating conditions such as overcurrent,unbalanced loads,over temperature,overvoltage,over excitation and under excitation,under impedance,over frequency and under frequency,and generator drive.For motor protection start supervision,there are also stall protection and cumulative start counter functions.
