  The 5SHY3545L0016 module is an insulated gate bipolar thyristor module developed and produced by ABB.IGCT,similar to GTO,is also a four layer three terminal device.The GCT is composed of thousands of GCTs internally,with the anode and gate shared,and the cathode connected in parallel.The important difference from GTO is the addition of a buffer layer on the inner side of the GCT anode,replacing the short-circuit anode of GTO with a transparent(permeable)anode.Its conduction mechanism is the same as GTO,but the shutdown mechanism is completely different from GTO.During the turning off process of GCT,it can instantly transition from a conduction to a blocking state,becoming a PNP transistor and then turning off,so it has no external du/dt limit;And GTO must undergo an intermediate unstable state transition that is neither on nor off,known as the"GTO region",so GTO requires a large absorption circuit to suppress the rate of change du/dt of the re applied voltage.The equivalent circuit of GCT in the blocked state can be considered as a series connection of a low gain PNP transistor with an open base and a gate power supply.
