Galvanized square tube is a hollow square section steel pipe with a square cross-sectional shape and size, which is made by cold bending processing of hot-rolled or cold-rolled galvanized strip steel or galvanized coil as raw material, and then by high-frequency welding. Alternatively, it is made by taking pre-made cold-bent hollow section steel pipes and then processing them through hot-dip galvanizing to produce galvanized square and rectangular tubes.
Characteristics of Galvanized Square Tubes
Due to the galvanizing process applied to square tubes, galvanized square tubes have significantly expanded their application range compared to regular square tubes. They are primarily used in curtain walls, construction, mechanical manufacturing, steel construction projects, shipbuilding, solar power, steel structure projects, power engineering, power plants, agriculture, and chemical machinery, glass curtain walls, automobile chassis, airports, and more.
Galvanization offers stronger protective effects and enhanced corrosion resistance. The entire structure consists of zinc, forming a dense tetragonal crystalline structure, which creates a barrier on the steel plate, effectively preventing the penetration of corrosive factors. The corrosion resistance comes from the strong protective function of zinc's barrier layer. When zinc acts as a sacrificial protection at cut edges, scratches, and damaged coating areas, it forms an insoluble oxide layer, providing barrier protection.
